Breaking the "Allergy Cycle"
by Dr. L. A. Bartell
One of the most troublesome afflictions facing Americans today,
and one that affects over 70% of the population of the United
States, is the problem of allergies.
This relatively simple form of illness forces millions of people
to seek medical care, take "allergy relief" medicines, and suffer,
seemingly without end. What is an allergy?
Webster's dictionary says that an allergy is an "exaggerated or
abnormal reaction to substances, situations or physical states
usually harmless to most people." The key wording here is "usually
harmless to most people." What differentiates between the people who
have allergies, and those who don't?
If we understand that the body works on a system of nerve energy
sent from the brain, it might be a little easier to understand. As
the energy is sent to the tissue cells of the body and its organs
from the brain. It passes through the spinal column over an
elaborate set of nerve highways.
When this energy is received at the tissue cells
in the proper quantity, the body is designed to tolerate most foods
and substances it comes in contact with. However, if there is a
decrease in the normal amount of nerve energy the cells receive,
then an allergic reaction is possible.
In many cases this decrease in nerve energy is
caused by an impingement of the spinal nerve due to the misalignment
of the spinal vertebrae. What this means in layman's terms is that
one of the spinal bones (vertebrae) has moved from its proper
position, and is pressing on one of the nerve trunks that make up
the spinal cord. This is called a vertebral subluxation.
The elimination of this problem can be as simple as a visit to a
doctor of chiropractic's office. The doctor's skilled evaluation can
locate the source of the allergy and, by using modern scientific
techniques, the doctor can eliminate the subluxation, and return the
spinal column to its proper position. This will restore the normal
flow of nerve energy and allow your body to again react normally to
the "substances usually harmless to most people."
If you are not an allergy sufferer, perhaps you know someone who
is. They may be a person who has been a factor in the loss of 27
million workdays each year due to allergic reactions. Your advising
them that chiropractic can help eliminate the cause of allergies
just may keep them from becoming one of the 2,100 unfortunate
Americans who die each year because of allergies. Won't you help
them break the allergy cycle? |
