Why
Does Chiropractic Get Results?
by Dr. L. A. Bartell
How often have you treated the symptom only to have it come back
again? Perhaps you have asked yourself, "Why won't this symptom go
away for good?" Maybe after you finish reading this article you
might have a better insight as to what really causes symptoms and
diseases to occur in. the first place.
The first thing to be formed in the human body is the brain and
the spinal cord. After this is formed then comes your organs, bones,
muscles and other parts, which make up your complete body. To
protect your brain nature provides a skull, and to protect the
spinal nerves, vertebrae surround it. It is when these vertebrae
become mis-aligned (subluxated) that your brain cannot control the
body functions properly and symptoms begin to develop. Such symptoms
are headaches, backaches, stiff necks, nervousness, or organic
conditions. These organic conditions may take the form of kidney
trouble, heart trouble, constipation, sinusitis, pulmonary
conditions or maybe liver trouble. Your doctor of chiropractic makes
a spinal analysis to determine where the nerve interference is. He
usually does this by palpation of the spine, nerve meter tests, and
spinal x-ray studies. After he has the information he needs, he will
then give the patient a gentle spinal adjustment for the purpose of
reducing nerve root irritation along the spine. This allows better
nerve circulation to flow from the brain and spinal cord to all
parts of your body, as well as the return of nerve circulation from
your body back to your brain. This added information allows the
brain to make the necessary corrections. Actually it is your Innate
Intelligence which really does the healing. It uses your brain like
a computer and your nerves like programmers to accomplish this.
Quite often patients are amazed to experience conditions and
symptoms clearing up that they had accepted as part of life.
Actually these symptoms are the only way your body can communicate
with you and let you know that something is wrong. When the
chiropractor corrects the spinal mis-alignments, the Innate
Intelligence begins to correct anything that is wrong in your body.
Some conditions respond much quicker than others to chiropractic
care.
Once the patient has been under chiropractic care
long enough so the body has had sufficient time to restore what is
normal health, then the doctor usually will suggest periodic
check-ups. The purpose is to keep the spine free from nerve
interference, which can occur when the body is under too much
stress. The stress may come in the form of physical, mental or
emotional.
Experienced chiropractic patients have found that it is much
easier to keep their bodies healthy, than to try and build them back
up. |
