The Good News & The Bad News About
Toxic Chemicals In Your Body!
by Dr. S. D. Pierson One of the greatest threats to health is the constant exposure of
our bodies to pollution and toxins in the environment, our household
products and in our food. The body will naturally eliminate some of
these chemicals. But, many accumulate in the body because their
sheer amount overloads the body's ability to detoxify itself. That's
the bad news. The good news is that you can help detoxify your body.
The liver is your largest internal organ and is the primary organ
of detoxification. It cleanses and detoxifies the blood, processes
nutrients from the intestinal tract, and produces enzymes vital to
digestion and overall health. There are some 500 functions carried
out by the liver, all of which are important to your health. With
the increased burden of drugs, preservatives, toxic pollutants,
pesticides, antibiotics and hormones, the liver
becomes overloaded and fails to function properly, leaving
these toxins to roam throughout your body and settle in tissues,
organs, fat, and the brain.
Some of the signs that your body needs detoxification are
fatigue, inability to concentrate or think clearly, and skin
problems such as rashes and dryness. Eating a more natural diet free
of additives, insecticides and pesticides will help the liver renew
itself. But there is more you can do to detoxify the body. We call
it the "4 R Program":
Remove: Eliminate
foods that tend to trigger problems such as wheat, dairy, red
meat, poultry, and sugar. Eat simply. Choose organically grown
produce, eat rice or soy based foods and fresh ocean fish. Stay
away from processed foods that help breakdown food to allow better
absorption.
Replace: Replace essential
digestive factors such as enzymes and stomach acids that help
breakdown food to allow better absorption.
Reinoculate: Add beneficial
microflora ("friendly" bacteria) to the digestive system. This is
necessary since antibiotics in foods or taken by prescription kill
off these "good" bugs.
Repair: Support the
regeneration and healing of the gastrointestinal system with
specialized nutritional products.
This program should be followed for 3 to 4 weeks about twice a
year. Until the environment is restored to its original
pollution-free state this is the best way to detoxify the body.
